Cordillera cops confiscate P2.6-M illegal drugs

More than P2 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO – CAR) during a weeklong operation from May 26 to June 1.

Authorities seized some P2,660,922.40 worth of illegal drugs while five drug personalities were arrested during the 13 operations conducted during the weeklong campaign.

These operations led to the confiscation of 13,050 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP), one marijuana seedling, 7.52 grams of marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, and 7.35 grams of suspected shabu, with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP2,660,922.40.

The most notable operations took place in Kalinga, where operatives from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) carried out one marijuana eradication operation, destroying 7,000 FGMJP with an SDP of P1,400,000. This was followed by Benguet PPO where seven marijuana eradication operations were conducted resulting in the eradication of 6,050 FGMJP worth P1,210,000.

The Baguio City Police Office also conducted two buy-bust operations and responded to two incidents, which led to the confiscation of one marijuana seedling, 7.52 grams of marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, and 1.70 grams of suspected shabu with an overall SDP of P12,502.40. In addition, they also apprehended one High Value Individual (HVI) and three Street Level Individuals.

Abra PPO meanwhile seized of 5.65 grams of suspected shabu worth P38,420 and the apprehended one HVI.

Outgoing PRO – CAR regional director David Peredo meanwhile said these accomplishments show the unwavering commitment of PRO CAR to eliminate illegal drugs from the region while demonstrating the continued support of the community and local government units in upholding peace and order in the region.
