DENR-CAR Regional Executive Director Engr. Paquito Moreno, Apayao Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang representing Calanasan Mayor Shamir Bulut and PEF Executive Director Dennis Salvador signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the DENR-CAR in Baguio City recently.
Thru the MOA the DENR-CAR, Municipal Government of Calanasan, and PEF uphold their common responsibility to ensure the sustainable development of the forests and forest lands of Calanasan for the present and future generations. The preparation, affirmation and legitimization of the Municipal Forest Land Use Plan are major steps towards the goal and all those involved declared to work hand in hand for the effective implementation of the FLUP of Calanasan.
The municipality of Calanasan is known for its highest forest cover that caters to various biodiversity and the partnership, the stakeholders will be able to maintain and even improve the richness of the forest and forestland especially so the forest of Calanasan which is domicile of the nation bird, the Philippine Eagle.
The MOA signing was witnessed by DENR-CAR Conservation and Development Division Chief Atty. Marcos Bias, Apayao Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Rainier Balbuena, Calanasan MENRO Designate Sarah Mae Batil, and PEF Board of Trustee and San Roque Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility Tommy Valdez and Director for Research and Conservation Jayson Ibanez.
