No rest for Carlo Von Bumina-ang as he returns to gym eager to polish his skills.
Rather than basking in the glory of his triumph, Bumina-ang wasted no time in returning to the gym, eager to refine his craft and elevate his game to new heights.
“Train again, and wait for the next opponent,” said Bumina-ang.
The Team Lakay standout exploded from his corner like a bull in a china shop and dropped Xie Zhipeng with a counter right hook in the opening seconds at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, with its latest edition of ONE Friday Fights February 2.
Smelling blood in the water, the Filipino phenom kept up the pressure and floored his Chinese adversary just moments later. From there, Bumina-ang put in the finishing touch via an arm-triangle choke at 1:29 of the match.
The 29-year-old moved to 5-0 overall with his fourth victory at ONE Friday Fights.
“I’m grateful for the win, but I know there’s always room for improvement,” Bumina-ang remarked. “I’m hungry to become a complete fighter, someone who excels in every aspect of the game. That’s why I’m focusing on honing my striking, grappling, and wrestling skills. There’s no such thing as being too prepared, especially when it comes to competing at the highest level.”
Bumina-ang’s commitment to self-improvement serves as a testament to his unyielding ambition. With his sights set on ONE Championship, he understands the caliber of competition that awaits him and is determined to rise to the challenge.
“May possibility na ma-include tayo sa main card ng One Championship. Hopefully, pero baka may isang laban pa and yun yung paghahandaan ko,” added the softspoken bantamweight.
Although his impressive record in ONE Friday Fights speak a ton for his level of skills, Bumina-ang said there are still a lot of things to learn and improve when it comes to MMA.
“Marami pa tayong dapat matutunan lalo na sa striking, grappling at wrestling. Yun yung pinag-aaralan naming step by step,” said Bumina-ang.
By shoring up any weaknesses in his game, he aims to enter the ONE Championship arena as a truly formidable opponent, capable of taking on any challenge that comes his way. Roderick Osis
