KAPANGAN, Benguet – Maricar Pilay came home here and helped her new found team a three-set beating of neighbor Atok for their first win in the Cong. Eric Go Yap Congressional Cup – Benguet Women’s Volleyball League at the Kapangan municipal gym here Sunday.
Pilay teamed up with Eirich Dangbis as they dealt Atok a 25-13, 25-15, 25-13 victory in just 51 minutes of play.
Dangbis led the squad with 20 points on 12 attack points and eight service aces, while the former Kapangan standout Pilay had 18 points all on attacks.
“We still have to adjust and improve on our play in order to fight the stronger teams in the league,” said coach Modesto Pangayan Jr. after the win.
“I also saw some of my former team mates,” said Pilay of the Kapangan squad who they lost to the other week in four sets of play.
Pilay added she just feels happy to be home who moved to Tublay where she now works at the local government unit.
Pilay exploded in the second set when she exploded for seven points en route to the 15 minutes victory, the shortest for the team that has vastly improved since the Gov. Melchor Diclas Cup that ended last June.
