The province of Apayao is gearing up to host the much-anticipated Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) for the third time.
With Governor Elias Bulut Jr. leading the charge, Apayao is set to showcase its commitment to sports development and excellence.
This year’s CARAA event marks a significant milestone for Apayao, as it continues to solidify its reputation as a premier sports destination within the region. The province first stepped onto the stage of regional sports in 2013 when it unveiled its sports complex in the town of Luna.
Since then, Apayao has been on a relentless journey of improvement and innovation in its sports facilities.
In 2019, Apayao once again played host to CARAA, this time with the addition of an upgraded rubberized tartan track, setting the stage for even higher levels of competition. Under the visionary leadership of Governor Bulut, the province has spared no effort in providing athletes with world-class facilities to hone their skills and compete at their best.
However, Apayao’s achievements in sports extend beyond its impressive infrastructure.
The province has steadily climbed the ranks in the CARAA meet, making its presence felt among the region’s athletic powerhouses.
In last year’s CARAA event hosted by Baguio, Apayao stunned the field by clinching the second spot overall, trailing only behind perennial powerhouse Baguio City and leaving behind the likes of perennial runner-up Benguet.
This remarkable feat speaks volumes about Apayao’s commitment to excellence and the tireless efforts of its athletes, coaches, and sports officials. Through dedication and determination, Apayao has emerged as a formidable contender in the regional sports arena, challenging the status quo and inspiring future generations of athletes.
As Apayao prepares to welcome athletes from across the Cordillera region for CARAA 2024, anticipation is running high for another exhilarating showcase of talent, passion, and sportsmanship.
With Bulut at the forefront of Apayao’s sports development initiatives, the province is poised to once again raise the bar and cement its status as a true powerhouse in Cordillera sports.
In the scenic landscapes of Apayao, where the spirit of sportsmanship converges with the beauty of nature, CARAA 2024 promises to be a celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and the unwavering spirit of the Cordilleran people.
Let the games begin, and may the best athletes emerge victorious in this ultimate test of skill and determination.
