Police destroyed more than 162 million pesos worth of marijuana plants during a single-day raid Wednesday, authorities said.
The operation at Mount Whatong, Luccong in Tinglayan, Kalinga province uncovered eight plantation sites stretching across approximately 52,000 square meters, according to a report from the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region.
Operatives uprooted and burned 456,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 338,000 seedlings on site. They also seized around 477,500 grams of dried marijuana stalks, leaves and fruiting tops.
Police used drones to scan the vast, rugged mountain terrain to locate the hidden fields.
The joint raid included regional police forces and agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Investigators are working to identify the cultivators behind the plantations, and no arrests were immediately reported. NLMonitor
