NINETEEN wanted personalities were arrested in the Cordillera were arrested during a weeklong operation while P2.5 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated as a result of the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region’s (PRO-CAR) anti criminality drive.
Based on the records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division of PRO-CAR, Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded the highest number of arrests with nine wanted individuals apprehended, followed by Baguio City Police Office (CPO) with four arrests, Abra PPO and Benguet PPO with two arrests each, and Ifugao PPO and Mountain Province PPO with one arrest each.
Of the 19 wanted personalities arrested, two are identified as Most Wanted Persons, one listed at the Provincial Level and one listed at the Regional Level.
The heightened police presence resulted in the recording of zero crime incidents in 63 municipalities across the region and six police stations in Baguio City during the same period.
Sixtry-three municipalities in the Cordillera also recorded zero crime last week with 26 in Abra, 11 in Benguet, eight each in Mountain Province and Ifugao, six in Apayao, and four in Kalinga.
In Baguio City, Police Station (PS) 1, PS3, PS4, PS7, PS8, and PS10 also reported no crime incidents, out of the 10 police stations in the city.
Meanwhile some P2,551,200 worth of illegal drugs were successfully seized, while one drug personality was arrested during a series of anti-drug operations conducted in the Provinces of Benguet and Kalinga on September 16, 2024.
In Benguet, a marijuana eradication operation conducted by the joint operatives of Bakun Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) led to the discovery of two marijuana plantation sites in Barangay Kayapa, Bakun.
The sites contained 7,000 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJPs) and 2,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings, with a total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P1,480,000.
In another operation, joint operatives from Kibungan MPS, PDEU, PIU, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) discovered two marijuana plantation sites within a communal forest in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan. These plantations, covering approximately 230 square meters, contained 1,620 pieces of FGMJPs with an SDP of PhP324,000.
Meanwhile, in Kalinga, a total of 3,600 pieces of FGMJPs with an SDP of PhP720,000.00 were discovered by joint operatives of 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Companies, Tinglayan MPS, and PDEU of Kalinga PPO, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15), and PDEA-Kalinga in a communal forest in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan.
A 38-year-old male, identified as a Street Level Individual was arrested in Barangay Appas, Tabuk City, following the execution of a search warrant by joint operatives of Tabuk City Police Station (CPS), PIU, PDEU, Provincial Legal Office, RMFB15, PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit, and the Regional Intelligence Division.
During the operation, operatives seized five plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 4 grams with an SDP of PhP27,200.00 from the suspect’s residence. The suspect and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to Tabuk CPS for documentation and proper disposition while a case for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being prepared against him.
