A dual job fair featuring more than 1,400 employment opportunities will be open to the public June 16 at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.
The “Bayanihan para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa” National Reintegration Network Fair, is hosted by the Department of Migrant Workers to help returning overseas workers and their families find local employment.
Department of Migrant Workers Regional Director Cherryl Daytec-Yangot said the fair is a vital initiative to help Filipinos secure steady employment close to home. She added that the Philippine government does not promote labor exportation as a national policy.
Daytec-Yangot encouraged the general public to attend the event and apply for the available positions.
For job seekers looking to stay in the country, the fair will feature 11 local companies offering 576 job openings.
For those looking for employment overseas, six licensed land-based recruitment agencies will bring 887 job orders.
Jeffrey Exciomo, regional overseas adjudicator for the DMW, said the overseas positions include roles for builders, car mechanics, nurses and hotel workers in Japan, Europe and the Caribbean.
Exciomo also announced an extensive talent search for positions in China, which includes openings for 160 singers, 120 performers and 670 musicians, such as guitarists, drummers and pianists.
The free event is open to everyone.
Attendees can apply for jobs, consult with 26 government help desks, or browse local goods at the “Buy Local, Buy OFW” trade fair.
The fair will also feature the Department of Education’s “Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir” program. Clariz Hidalgo | UC Intern
