Wakamatsu evens score with win over Kingad

Yuya Wakamatsu showcased his improved over-all fight game as he evens the score against Lions Nation MMA’s Danny Kingad at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena in ONE 165: Superlek vs. Takeru.

The fourth-ranked flyweight MMA contender Wakamatsu showed how much he has evolved in his rematch with the former second ranked Kingad via a unanimous decision victory.

After coming up short in the wrestling exchanges back in 2018, the Japanese star flew out of the blocks with his own takedown this time around. Then, he dominated the scrambles and scored with heavy ground-and-pound over the course of three rounds.

Kingad never stopped trying to find an advantage on the mat, but Wakamatsu’s top control, reversals, and aggression earned him redemption over the Filipino stud.

“Little Piranha” left the ring with a clear victory to move his record to 17-6 while fell to 15-4.

In the main event, “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9 retained his ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title in an epic five-round main event against Takeru “The Natural Born Crusher” Segawa.

The reigning king had to overcome spells of danger from the debuting Japanese icon on January 28, but he ultimately produced a slick performance to earn the unanimous decision victory at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. NLMonitor
