The Police Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region seized more than P17.1 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested six suspected street-level dealers during a weeklong crackdown from Sept. 14-20.
Cordillera police conducted 10 anti-drug operations across the region, which included four buy-busts, three marijuana eradications, two police responses and the execution of one search warrant.
During the operations, officers uprooted 36,300 fully grown marijuana plants, confiscated 82,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and seized 9.77 grams of methamphetamine, locally known as shabu.
Authorities placed the total standard drug price of the seized narcotics at 17,166,436 pesos.
The largest sweep occurred in Kalinga, where provincial police destroyed P9.84 million worth of marijuana and arrested one suspect.
Mountain Province police followed with a seizure of P7.2 million pesos in illegal drugs.
In Abra, authorities seized P56,456 worth of drugs and arrested one person, while Benguet police confiscated 55,836 pesos in drugs and arrested two suspects.
Ifugao police seized P7,004 pesos worth of shabu and made one arrest, and the Baguio City Police Office confiscated P2,040 worth of shabu, resulting in one arrest.
The regional police command stated the weeklong operations underscore its ongoing commitment to disrupting the illicit drug market and maintaining safe, peaceful communities throughout the Cordillera. NLMonitor
