Authorities seized over 15.9 million pesos worth of illegal drugs and arrested five suspects during a weeklong series of operations across the region, the Policed Regional office – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) announced.
The anti-illegal drug drive, conducted from Aug. 24 to 30 by various units of PRO – CAR, comprised eight separate operations targeting local drug networks.
Law enforcers destroyed 79,500 fully grown marijuana plants and confiscated 9.59 grams of suspected shabu, carrying a total standard drug price of P15,965,212.
The operations led to the arrest of five individuals involved in the regional drug trade. Police classified two of the suspects as high-value individuals and three as street-level individuals.
“These accomplishments highlight PRO CAR’s commitment to eradicating the illegal drug trade in the region. Through sustained enforcement, strengthened collaboration with partner agencies and communities, PRO CAR remains steadfast in its mission to maintain a safer and drug-free Cordillera,” PRO – CAR said in a press statement.
The largest seizure occurred in Kalinga province, where eradication operations by the Kalinga Police Provincial Office led to the discovery and destruction of 79,500 marijuana plants valued at P15.9 million.
In Baguio City, local police arrested two high-value individuals and one street-level individual across separate buy-bust operations, confiscating 9.02 grams of suspected shabu valued at P61,336.
Police in Abra province arrested one street-level suspect and seized 0.47 grams of suspected shabu worth P3,196.
Officers with the Benguet Police Provincial Office rounded out the week’s enforcement, arresting one street-level suspect and confiscating 0.10 grams of suspected shabu valued at P680. NLMonitor
