KM Partylist launches “Libreng Kabaong” initiative

A dignity in death is being espoused.

The ‘’Kilos Mamamayan (KM) Ngayon na!” partylist has launched a commitment to serve those in need at the most difficult of times through the “Libreng Kabaong” initiative, aiming to help the bereaved.

KM Partylist Representative Kenneth Paolo Codnita Tereng  said “Out of deep respect for the dignity of life and death, we believe that everyone deserves a respectful and humane final rest. Through the Free Casket initiative, we aim to ease the financial burden on grieving families during one of the most difficult times in their lives.”

KM partylist likewise launched the “Lingap para sa Naulila Program” launched Thursday, 24 July 2025 which aims to assist underprivileged.

In the Cordillera a customized wooden coffin is often required out of cultural practice, and according to the tradition the caskets given by the party list has conformed to the belief as well as given livelihood to wood artisans.

Tereng said ‘’ This initiative was created not only to give assistance to the bereaved family of a verified indigent KM member by providing free casket for the deceased but also to give continuous livelihood opportunity for local woodwork shops as the kind of casket to be provided is a customized wood mostly required in the highlands.”

KM party list won a seat in Congress with 316,066 votes with a bulk coming from the provinces of Benguet, Mt. Province, Kalinga, Ifugao, Baguio City and nearby areas like La Union, Pangasinan and Nueva Vizcaya.
