KAPANGAN, Benguet – Kapangan is slowly getting its rhythm and the players are gelling just in time to face the tougher squads in the Cong. Eric Go Yap Congressional Cup Benguet Women’s Volleyball League.
In another statement game, Kapangan eased past late comer Kabayan.
In a performance in front of their townsmates, Victoria Mie Balabag and Lovely Joy Balagat scored 14 and nine points, respectively, to lead the home team past Kabayan, which only joined the league last week.
Balabag was at her best as she scored nine kills and five aces in the 49-minute encounter that would surely be a motivation as they face one of the powerhouses in the league, La Trinidad.
“We are slowly getting there, but we need more practice together which depends on the availability of our players,” said coach Danilo Edwardo.
Edwardo said that some of the players, especially the starters could not clear their schedule in time for practice or even play.
Among them is Xhyrelle Joy Sasa, the best player during their debut, who works even, at times, on Sunday.
The team also welcomed the return of Dezsaera Mae Monang, who injured her right knee during the semifinals of the Gov. Diclas Cup last June.
“I can play now,” said the daughter of Benguet sports coordinator Dean Mark Monang, who was the best server and most valuable player in the recent game organized by the governor.
Kapangan, which finished runner-up in the recent tournament, is set to meet La Trinidad on November 24 at home.
