Kapangan scores 9th win, assured of twice to beat edge

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Kapangan hardly broke a sweat as it cruised to a 25-3, 25-1, 25-12 victory over Bakun in the Cong. Eric Go Yap Congressional Cup – Benguet Women’s Volleyball League Wednesday at the Benguet Sports Complex here.

It was a record night for Kapangan as it registered the least allowed game of three in the first set, but it even topped itself when it just gave Bakun a single marker in the second set when Dezsarae Monang was at her element at the service area.

Monang was almost perfect at the service area as she scored seven aces and had her team up 12-0 before Bakun scored o a service error by Monang.

It was even crazier in the second set when Monang scored 11 for said area and led her team to a 16-0 lead but a service error saw Bakun score its first points which, however was the last for the team that is now 0-9.

Monang scored 19 points on 18 aces and a single kill, while Victoria Mie Balabag added 13 points on 12 attack points and a single ace.

All in all, Kapangan had a record 32 service aces in the game that lasted 41 minutes only, the first set was only 10 minutes, a record in the league, while the second was a longer 14 minutes.

Dhie Cryzl Cabatan led Bakun with three points, two attack points and a service ace, while the rest came from Kapangan’s errors – seven service errors and nine unforced errors.

Itogon, meanwhile, hopes to finish improve to a better sixth place finish as it takes on sixth seed Buguias as of this writing.

At 4-5, Itogon is now at seventh spot. It is also trying to avoid a four game skid after setbacks against three of the toughest teams – Kapangan, Sablan and Tublay last Sunday. La Trinidad earlier rolled Itogon. CEGYCC Release
