World Muay Thai Champion Islay Erika Bomogao lived up to expectations after scoring another victory in Australia during the weekend in Domination Muay Thai 30.
Bomogao, the first Filipino Female World Champion in Muay Thai, defeated Australian World Muay Thai Federation State Champion Sarah Kwa, while 2023 Southeast Asian Games Silver medalist Ariel Lee Lampacan defeated Moo Doh Soe from the Thaiboxing Pit in their respective matches both via decision.
Zaidi Laruan, the third Cordilleran who saw action during the event meanwhile lost against Perth-based Thai fighter Prabsuek after the fight was called off in Round 2 of the main event after receiving an accidental elbow to the back of the head and cannot continue to fight.
Earlier this year, Bomogao won two silver medals in the senior female waikru elite category and the senior Muay category during the 2024 International Federation of Muaythai Associations Senior World Muaythai Championships held in Patras, Greece, from May 31 to June 9.
Lampacan also clinched a gold medal in the senior male waikru category and the silver medal in senior male mai Muay category in the same event.
Prior to the Australian event during the weekend, Bomogao was ranked number 1 in the Female -45kg category by the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA), the governing body of Muay Thai in the world.
Bomogao got 1920 points total with her world championship gold medal in 2023 and bronze medal in the 2024 edition.
Starting her Muay Thai career at the tender age of 16, Bomogao took the sport by storm after winning the gold medal at the 2018 Intβl Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) Youth World Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand and also at the Jincheon 1st World Youth Martial Arts Masterships in 2017 held in Jincheon, South Korea.
