The Baguio City Health Services Office (CHSO) reported that dengue cases in the city have decreased by 75 percent as of the third week of September 2024.
CHSO Head Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes said dengue cases are now at 200 plus, down from the previous highest case of 872. From the said number, the CHSO recorded ten deaths.
“It’s a very significant decrease. We hope that by this week until next week, we will be having it down to less than 100. Then, hopefully, talagang mababa na po ang kaso natin,” Brillantes said.
The health officer attributed the decrease in dengue cases to community participation.
“We’re managing our dengue cases very good. Our response to dengue has been sustained ever since. It’s really a community participation,” Brillantes said.
She reminded the public not be complacent as she reiterated to continue doing the simple measures at home to mitigate or prevent potential dengue cases such as the removal of any water from containers like drums, tires, flower vases, and the like.
She also reminded the public to check every corner of their houses where mosquitoes might lay their eggs.
Brillantes emphasized that cleaning the surroundings helps in the prevention of dengue cases.
