Cordillera police nets P3-M illegal drugs, collared several wanted persons

The Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera confiscated over P3M worth of illegal drugs and arrested nine drug personalities during the week-long implementation of intensified anti-illegal drugs operations conducted from January 29 to February 4, 2024.

Citing the records from the Regional Operations Division, the marijuana eradication operations conducted in the Provinces of Benguet and Kalinga resulted in the discovery of a total of 4,300 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants and 25,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves with a standard drug price (SDP) of P3,864,000 which were later burned by the operatives.

In a separate anti-illegal drugs operations conducted in Baguio City, Benguet, and Kalinga, police confiscated 9.08 grams of suspected shabu with a total SDP of P61,744 and arrested nine drug personalities.

In a police report, four were apprehended from buy-bust operations, three from a police checkpoint, and one from the implementation of a warrant of arrest.

All arrested suspects are now facing charges for violation of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, 20 wanted personalities were arrested, while 58 municipalities in the Cordillera region recorded zero crime incidents.

Based on the records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), Baguio City Police Office (CPO) recorded the highest number of arrests with eight, followed by Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) with five arrests, Kalinga PPO with three arrests, and Abra PPO, Apayao PPO, Ifugao PPO & Mountain Province PPO with one arrest each.

Of the 20 wanted persons arrested, two were listed as most wanted person in the provincial and one in the station level.

Meanwhile, as a result of the intensified police presence, 58 municipalities in the different provinces of the region and three police stations in Baguio City remain peaceful, as PRO Cordillera recorded zero crime incidents in these areas during the same week.

Zero crime incidents were recorded in 23 out of 27 municipalities in Abra; eight out of 13 municipalities in Benguet; four out of seven municipalities in Kalinga; nine out of 11 municipalities in Ifugao; nine out of 10 municipalities in Mountain Province; and five out of seven municipalities in Apayao.

Further, in Baguio City, Naguilian Police Station, Aurora Hill Police Station, and Irisan Police Station also recorded zero crime incidents out of the 10 police stations in the city. NLMonitor
