Cordi cops uproot P16.9-M MJ in Benguet, Kalinga

More than 84,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P16 million were recently uprooted by the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) during a two – day eradication operation from July 19 – 20, 2024.

In Kalinga, a series of marijuana eradication operations led to the discovery of seven plantation sites in Barangay East and West Tulgao, Tinglayan, planted with 49,350 marijuana plants worth P11,310,000.

In Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, 27,000 plants worth P5,400,000 was also uprooted.

In Benguet, another plantation site was discovered in Brgy. Kayapa, Bakun, with 1,200 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants worth P240,000

Upon discovery, the operatives uprooted and burned the marijuana plants on-site, with sufficient samples taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit CAR.

The operations were successful with the concerted efforts of joint operatives from different units of PRO-CAR, including Bakun Municipal Police Station (MPS), Benguet and Kalinga Provincial Intelligence Units, Pinukpuk MPS, Tinglayan MPS, Pasil MPS, Balbalan MPS, 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Companies, 1503rd Maneuver Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, Kalinga Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-CAR.
