John Mar Cabradilla scored 16 points to lead the Cordillera Career Development College Admirals to a commanding 103-69 victory over the University of the Cordilleras Jaguars in the men’s basketball elimination round of the 37th Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League season.
The Jaguars briefly took a 1-3 lead in the opening minutes, but the Admirals quickly responded with back-to-back 3-pointers from Aaron Nang-is and Arjay Contaoi, sparking a massive run and pushed CCDC ahead 18-8 midway through the first quarter.
By the end of the opening period, the Admirals had established a comfortable 31-12 advantage.
Admirals coach Manuel Felix Jr. attributed the dominant performance to the team’s rigorous offseason program and emphasized the importance of squad depth moving forward.
“The team is much more focused now compared to last year. We joined leagues outside Baguio and Benguet, so our preparation has been better. We need to utilize all our players,” said Felix.
CCDC maintained its blistering pace in the second quarter, building a 30-point lead and entering halftime with a heavily lopsided 62-32 cushion.
The Jaguars attempted a brief rally in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 20 points with 6:20 remaining, but the Admirals effortlessly regained control to close the period up 82-53 and secure the blowout win.
Contaoi and Renz Jornacion contributed 12 points each for CCDC, while Leomar Jade Vasadre added 10.
Junlor De Guzman and Alexis Prado paced the Jaguars with 16 points apiece, and Jesus Dela Cuadra chipped in with 11 as they suffer back-to-back defeat in their first three games.
Following the decisive win, Felix noted that the squad’s sights are already set on their next matchup and a rematch against last season’s tormentor University of Baguio Cardinals.
“We are looking forward to bouncing back against UB,” Felix said. Roderick Osis
