SABLAN, Benguet โ€“ Buguias cruised to its first win beating Bokod in four sets, 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14, at the Sablan Municipal Gym Sunday in the Cong -. Eric Go Yap Congressional Cup Benguet Womenโ€™s Volleyball League.

Desiree Joy Banih and Geneveb Buyagan scored 15 points each to power Buguias in what could be yet the longest game in the three โ€“ week tournament presented by Rep. Yap, the ACT-CIS Partylist, the office of Gov. Melchor Diclas and the Media for Sports Development.

Buguias battled from five points down in the second set before finding its composure in the endgame to snatch the victory from Bokod.

In the third, Bokod slowly built an eight-point lead, 19-11, before Buguias answered to cut the lead to only two 22-24 but Buyagan lost a joust for the set point.

The fourth was a Buguias show and never trailed in the match despite a horrendous service where they made seven errors.

The four โ€“ set match saw Buguias commit 19 service errors.

โ€œWe failed miserably in the receiving area and that was what we did especially in the second set when we battled from five points down to snatch the win,โ€ said coach Kier Bigo.

But Bigo said that third set was a disaster as they faltered to give their opponents the win.

โ€œWe came up short but recovered in the fourth,โ€ he added.

Banih had 11 attack points, three service aces and a single block, while Buyagan built her score from 11 attacks and four service aces, three of which came in the third set. She, however made six service errors. Atok and Mankayan are trying to earn their first win even as La Trinidad goes up against Sablan in a fifth match between two powerhouses.
