The three – story structure will be built alongside the ongoing Olympic Standard Aquatic Center and the track and field oval of the Benguet Sports Complex in La Trinidad.
With an initial funding of P150 million, Benguet Cong. Eric Go Yap during the formal groundbreaking of ceremony last week, assured the project will be constructed by phase with another P150 million to be earmarked in 2025. Another P150 million is expected to be earmarked by 2026 to complete the project.
Offering world class amenities, the state – of – the – art building will be a perfect destination for local, national and even international events in a stunning three floor steel structure with glass finish, covering an impressive 3,000 square meters.
The ground floor will offer a 1000 – person capacity that can cater to conventions of large setting with a dedicated space for an office, receiving area, and a fully equipped kitchen.
“This will be our legacy. Gagawin natin ang Benguet Convention Center para meron tayong maipagmamalaki na tayong taga Benguet maganda ang convention center natin,” Yap said.
La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda meanwhile thanked the initiative of Congressman Yap and Governor Melchor Diclas, saying this will help boost the tourism industry not only of the capital town but the entire province.
“What we also need is to build hotels for our visitors and also the billeting of the athletes but these may follow soon,” Salda added.
Diclas meanwhile said once the construction of the convention center is completed, the province will be more than ready to host different events.
“The facility could also be a source of revenue for the province,” Diclas said.
Other amenities of the convention center include banquet hall at the second floor that can accommodate 700 persons for performances, presentations, and speeches. There are also two locker rooms for the performers, speakers, and other staff.
Also at the second floor is a green room where the performers and speakers can relax before taking the stage, a VIP room for distinguished guests offering privacy and comfort, and a mezzanine which offers an elevated and panoramic view.
Every level will also offer elegantly finished PWD-friendly and gender-neutral comfort rooms. NLMonitor
