Baguio Taichi Day declared

The Baguio City Council recently passed a resolution officially declaring every last Saturday of April of every year as Tai Chi day in the City of Baguio.

Councilor Vladimir Cayabas, author of the ordinance, said Tai Chi offers profound benefits, both in terms of physical and mental well-being. He added that Baguio, known for its cool and temperate climate, provides an ideal environment for practicing it and reconnecting with nature.

Tai Chi is a slow-motion, moving, meditative exercise originating from China. It has gained global popularity due to its numerous health benefits which have been scientifically and medically validated. These benefits include stress relief, behavior modification, improved balance and coordination especially for the elderly, boosted immune system, enhanced muscle tone and bone density, increased flexibility, and overall better health and well-being.

One of unique aspects of Tai Chi is its incorporation of ancient Chinese philosophies such as Yin and Yang and Wu Xing, which aim to harmonize the practitioner with nature.

Copies of the resolution will be distributed to different offices, organizers, and individuals to ensure widespread awareness and participation in Tai Chi Day celebrations. – Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Baguio Releases
