Policemen and barangay leaders took the lead in taking care of the Busol and Buyog watersheds, two main sources of potable water in the city, by planting trees to replenish those that have been destroyed by typhoons and illegal activities.
In Busol, Aurora Hill Police Station (PS 6) personnel teamed up with the Women’s Organization of Aurora Hill and officials of the different barangays of Aurora Hill and planted 70 pine tree seedlings last July 16, 2023.
This is “to raise awareness on the importance of saving and planting trees, express our concern to the environment and diminish the effects of climate change,” according to the station.
The activity is also in line with the 28th Police Community Relations Month celebration with a theme, “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa tungo sa Ligtas at Maunlad na Pamayanan” and the promotion of the PNP’s core values on “makakalikasan” which aims to preserve nature for the next generation to feel the bounties and serenity of the Mother Earth.
Meanwhile, on July 19, 2023, personnel of the Police Station 2 along with the University of the Cordilleras interns and Field Training Program participants conducted a tree planting activity at the Buyog watershed.
With the start of the planting season, the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) is now accepting requests for tree planting activities from groups and organizations. Please call 09174158224. – Baguio City Public Information Office
