It’s all systems go as Baguio City is expected to host close to 2,000 runners for the first leg of the 2024 HOKA Trilogy Run Asia on May 5.
The HOKA Trilogy will be first of the three-leg running series in the Summer Capital of the Philippines with major iconic Baguio roads being closed off, allowing runners to not just feel the breezy climate during the course but also traverse the picturesque Baguio view.
“We are very excited because sobrang init sa Manila so this is a good opportunity for our runners in Manila to have an air condition in the event,” said Run Rio president Rio Dela Cruz, organizer of the HOKA Trilogy run.
Aside from the May 5 event, the Baguio Leg, which is also presented by HOKA, Gatorade, Sante Barley, Le Minerale, and the Department of Tourism (DOT), will have its second part on July 7 and the third on September 29.
Also supporting this race is the leadership of Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong, the City Administrator’s Office Sports and Recreation Division, Baguio Tourism Office, Baguio City Police Office, Traffic Enforcement Unit, and the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office, with local organizer Without Limits, official hotel partner Hotel Grande, and registration partners Toyville Albergo and Highland Bike Shop also throwing support.
Race categories in Leg 1 will be 5K, 10K, and 16K; Leg 2 from June to August will have 5K, 10K, and 21K; and Leg 3 from August to October will have 5K, 10K, and 32K.
“For this year, hindi lang kame available sa Manila, but we are also available in different cities like Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod and Cagayan De Oro,” added Dela Cruz.
Finishers of these legs are eligible to participate in the National Finals which culminates on December 8 in Manila, which will have 10K, 21K, and 42K categories.
Setting the TRA apart from other races is its unique finishers medal, with interconnecting parts handed out for every leg finished and forming a larger medal.
