The Baguio City Council recently passed a resolution commending Jingle Melan Ku Marquez for her podium finish at the Singapore T100 Triathlon World Tour.
Marquez recently secured third place in the duathlon category age-group division during the international competition held at Marina Bay, Singapore.
The grueling run-bike-run event tested elite global competitors, with Marquez battling extreme weather conditions to secure her spot on the podium.
In the resolution introduced by Councilor Joel A. Alangsab, city officials said her success serves as a profound testament to the “Baguio Spirit” of perseverance, hard work, and athletic excellence, inspiring fellow Cordillerans and the Filipino nation.
“Despite extreme weather conditions and the elite level of international competition, she secured Third Place… demonstrating remarkable discipline, endurance, and resilience,” the resolution read, highlighting her ability to balance physical fitness and mental wellness.
Aside from being an athlete, Marquez was also named one of Baguio’s 2025 Outstanding Women Leaders for her contributions to community wellness.
Marquez is also practicing psychologist, published author, and founder of Art Heals Inc., an organization dedicated to mental health and creative expression.
The T100 Triathlon World Tour is the official world championship tour of long-distance triathlon. It is organized by the Professional Triathletes Organisation and recognized by World Triathlon, the sport’s global governing body.
The tour features 20 men and 20 women competing in each event for the world championship title and a share of a $9 million prize purse. Contracted athletes are selected based on top-10 finishes from the 2024 tour or outstanding performances over the past year.
Additional “Hot Shot” contracts are awarded based on Olympic success or standing outside the PTO world rankings, alongside wildcard spots for exceptional recent performances, athletes returning from injury or maternity, and Olympians moving up in distance. Roderick Osis
