CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga — The Kalinga provincial government is set to give Hergie Bacyadan a hero’s welcome.
The Paris Olympics boxer who hails from Taloctoc, Tanudan, brought pride to the province and made local history as the first yKalinga to join the Olympics, competing as part of the Philippine’s boxing delegation in the 33rd edition of the Games held in Paris, France recently.
Bacyadan will be feted with a motorcade in Bulanao in Tabuk City that will start at 8:00 AM. The motorcade route will start at McDonald’s and proceed to St. William’s Academy. It will then turn at the White Carabao to the New Age Montessori School, to Bulanao Central School until the Rotary Marker in front of the Davidson Hotel. From the Rotary Marker, the motorcade will turn and traverse the stretch of the Provincial Road to St. Tonis College Inc. It will then proceed to Southern Tabuk Integrated School before ending at the Kalinga Sports Center. A formal program will follow at the Kalinga Sports Center (Provincial Capitol gym) where Bacyadan will receive P500,000 cash incentive and a special recognition from the provincial government.
Bacyadan and the other Filipino Olympians each received P1 million cash incentive and presidential citation from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Gymnast Carlos Yulo led the sucessful campaign of the Filipino athletes in the 2024 Paris Olympics with his two gold medals in the artistic gymnastics competition earning him a Presidential Medal of Merit with P20 million incentive from the Office of the President.
Baguio-based boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas both won Olympic bronze medal and received P2 million each from the OP. PIA – Kalinga
