Trigger Warning:
This article talks about Trauma and Mental Disorders. Should you need help, call 911 (for Baguio City) and the Baguio General Hospital Medical Center through the Mental Health Crisis Hotline: 09509916841 (Globe) for individuals in immediate crisis with cases of violence and self-harm. Also, for the National Center for Mental Health Crisis Hotline, they are also available at 1553 (landline toll-free). Should you need further helplines, visit Mental Health Philippines FB page for the directory of legitimate service providers.

Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, OkCupid, and eHarmony are online dating apps where everyone says one is single and available. However, that is not usually the case. Many people who post themselves as single, in truth, are married or at least separated. Some are trying to prey on women or ladies or even men children.

Not everyone is safe online unless these ladies are in for a drive with sugar daddies or men are in for an adventure with older nanny-like ages or maybe a non-binary affair. These are facts that are hard to comprehend except when it’s more for the money and personal gain.

Do you know that most people who experienced traumas like in rape cases or physical abuses grow disturbed? Their experiences are so overpowering that it may lead to mental problems during adolescence and until adulthood. Even men are battered now, look at the case of Johnny Depp that may have a conclusive link to Amber’s (his wife) childhood.

In a changing world where technology is holding us captives – like when we can’t live without our smart phones and gadgets, modernization has affected children making the current generation more vulnerable to mental issues. Even children can grow trauma because of a car accident or parents because of the lost of a child. You know what I mean!

The Baby Boomers during their time tells us there were no mental problems back then. I guess, there were already existing problems on mental health but they didn’t know how to name or approach it and people were not diagnosed yet. They  were tagged either as “eccentric (if one is rich) or crazy (if one is poor)” .

Now, consider a plethora of names for mental disorders from anxiety, fears and mood swings. You can also be diagnosed of various disorders altogether as if the winner takes all – all the unmanageable symptoms and diagnoses.

There was also no online dating then, now with a few clicks online even safe spaces are not safe spaces anymore. There is also such a thing as heartbroken syndrome that is a no-brainer for everybody.

It’s a complicated world, we all know that. But whatever happened or happens to you, know that there is hope and a chance to be better every day.
