Youth-led clean-up drive perks up purok in San Vicente

A group of young volunteers from Barangay San Vicente has been making a big difference in their community through their monthly clean-up drive.

The initiative, spearheaded by Eishen Agageo, president of the Tenerrace Youth Organization, started in December 2024 and has been a continuous effort ever since.

The goal of the program is simple: to keep Purok Tenerrace clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone.

Agageo shared that the clean-up drive is not just about making the community a nicer place—it is also about giving the youth something positive to do.

“I want the young people to get involved, take initiative, and stay away from bad influences,” Agageo said. “This program helps teach them the importance of cleanliness, responsibility, and community service.”

What is remarkable is that the initiative is completely volunteer-based.

Agageo emphasized that there no funding or budget has been alloted for their program and yet the turnout has been incredible.

“Anyone who has time and wants to help is welcome to join,” Agageo said. Surprisingly, even the kids who usually play in the streets have been joining in to help clean up their surroundings. This has made the job easier and more fun for everyone involved.

Beyond the clean-up, the group has big plans for the future.  Agageo mentioned that the organization is working on outreach programs and offering free health-related education for the community, such as basic life support and first aid training.

Through these efforts, the Tenerrace Youth Organization is not just cleaning up the environment—they are also building a stronger, more united community in Purok Tenerrace. – Baguio City Public Information Office
