Nearly P29 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by authorities in the Cordillera region in separate police operations.
On February 6, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) recovered P28,090,800 worth of illegal drugs in Brgy Dupag, Tabuk City.
According to the report from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, joint operatives of Tabuk City Police Station (CPS), Special Operating Unit 14, 141 SAC 14 SAB of PNP Special Action Force, 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, 1503rd MC of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit of Kalinga, responded to an information from a concerned citizen regarding a vehicle transporting illegal drugs from Tinglayan to Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Police found the abandoned vehicle in Brgy Dupag and recovered 205 pieces of dried marijuana bricks weighing close to 205 kg with a standard drug price (SDP) of P24,600,000; 45 pieces of dried marijuana leaves in tubular form weighing 22.5kgs with an SDP of P2,700,000 ; 25 pieces of vacuum sealed dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops weighing MOL 6.25kgs with an SDP Php750,000; and six grams of suspected shabu with an SDP of Php40,800.00.
Furthermore, investigations are ongoing to identify the owner of the vehicle and other possible suspects involved who will be facing charges for the violation of the R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002.
In Baguio City, a high value drug personality was arrested following the confiscation of P136,000 worth of shabu seized in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Campo Filipino, Baguio City, on February 5.
In a report, the suspect was arrested by the joint operatives of PRO Cordillera RDEU, Naguilian Police Station (PS) 1, City Drug Enforcement Unit, PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Cordillera, and Regional Intelligence Unit 14, after he sold one sachet of suspected shabu, weighing close to 20 grams.
