Kalinga opens first art gallery

TABUK CITY, Kalinga –Arts will flourish in Kalinga.

Aki’s Café Gallery in Purok 7, Bulanao, marked history as the first exhibition space for both artists and artisans.

Opened February 9, 2026, with the inaugural exhibit, “RUGI: First Ground,” showcasing a collection of works led by the Most Rev. Prudencio P. Andaya Jr., CICM, D.D, Carlo Villafuerte, Willy Magtibay, Jason Duclan, Silan, Jason Bosaing, Dejon Taguyangon and JA B highlighted by paintings, sculptures, pottery, woven textiles, and installation pieces.

Rugi” an Ilocano term meaning “beginning” embodies the the province’s growing creative economy.

The gallery is owned and operated by Cesar and Maxie Capuyan. Located beside Bon Chon, the gallery is now open to the public daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
