JHMC, DTI sign MOU to boost SMEs

The Department of Trade and Industry-Baguio Benguet and the John Hay Management Corp. signed a memorandum of understanding to boost micro, small and medium enterprises, promote sustainable investments, and create jobs within Camp John Hay.

DTI Provincial Director Felicitas Bandonill and JHMC President and Chief Executive Officer Manjit Singh Reandi signed the agreement, which outlines joint initiatives to advance MSMEs through capacity-building, product promotion and expanded market access.

Under the agreement, JHMC will provide venues within Camp John Hay for DTI-assisted MSMEs to showcase and sell their products. Both agencies will also co-implement training sessions for pine needle and pine cone crafts, aiming to revive eco-friendly industries under the “Breathe Baguio” advocacy campaign.

“This partnership opens new opportunities for MSMEs to thrive and innovate, recognizing that MSMEs do not merely support the economy — they are the economy itself,” Bandonill said.

Singh Reandi echoed the sentiment, noting the environmental and economic alignment of the project.

“By supporting sustainable enterprises, we strengthen our commitment to responsible economic growth while further advancing community development,” Singh Reandi said.

The MOU will remain in effect for one year to ensure sustained collaboration and measurable outcomes.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Richard Avelino T. Limpin, DTI chief trade and industry development specialist; Atty. Kristoffer Lee Dance, JHMC board chairperson; and Jane Theresa Tabalingcos, JHMC vice president and chief operating officer. NLMonitor
