Cordi police bags P3.9-M illegal drugs, nets 3 pushers

Some P3,900,260 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated with three drug personalities arrested in a series of anti-illegal drug operations conducted in the Provinces of Kalinga, Benguet, Apayao, and Baguio City on September 19 to 20, 2024 by the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR).

In Kalinga, marijuana eradication operations conducted by the joint operatives of the different units of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Kalinga discovered 14,250 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJPs) with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P2,850,000 planted across 950 square meters in Barangay Buscalan and Bugnay in the Municipality of Tinglayan.

Moreover, in Benguet, similar operations led to the discovery of 4,760 FGMJPs, with a SDP of P952,000. These were located in three plantation sites: Barangay Kayapa in Bakun, Barangay Sagubo in Kapangan, and Barangay Tacadang in Kibungan.

These successful operations were made possible through the collaboration of various units, including the Benguet PPO, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, and the Land Transport Interdiction Unit of the PDEA-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR ).

All discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite, with sufficient samples taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR and Kalinga Provincial Forensic Unit for examination.

In Apayao, a 42-year-old male, identified as High Value Individual, was arrested after operatives from the different units of Apayao PPO, Regional Intelligence Division of PRO-CAR, and PDEA-Apayao executed a search warrant in Barangay Swan, Pudtol. Approximately one gram of suspected shabu with an SDP of P6,800 and assorted drug paraphernalia were confiscated during operation from the suspects’ residence.

In Baguio City, operatives of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit of PRO-CAR, Police Station 3 of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), and PDEA-CAR arrested a 48-year-old female, identified as a Street Level Individual (SLI), in Barangay Marcoville during a buy-bust operation after she sold two pieces of plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing ten grams with an SDP of P68,000 to an undercover operative acting as a poseur buyer.

Another buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of BCPO and PDEA-CAR led to the arrest of a 40-year-old male, also identified as SLI, in Barangay Padre Zamora. Operatives seized one piece of plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing 3.45 grams with an SDP of P23,460 from the suspect’s possession.

The suspects and the seized evidence were brought to the respective operating units for documentation and proper disposition, while cases for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against them. NLMonitor
