Following the successful hosting of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meet earlier this month, the Province of Apayao once again takes pride in hosting the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Athletic Meet 2024.
The annual regional sports meet for state universities and colleges (SUC) formally kicked off today, April 30, at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex (AETSC) in San Gregorio, Luna.
The event drew nearly 2000 participants, including athletes, coaches, and delegation officials, representing seven state universities and colleges (SUCs) from across the Cordillera region.
This year’s collegiate regional sporting activity theme is “Bidlisiw: Paghilom, Pagbangon, at Pagsulong,” which translates to “Rays of Sun” in Cebuano, symbolizing hope, resilience, and progress.
Ending on May 3, venues for the various sports competitions include the towns of Luna, Santa Marcela, and Pudtol.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, serving as the keynote speaker, conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the CARASUC organizing committee.
Through a recorded video message, Sen. Go commended the efforts of the committee in orchestrating a successful and well-organized event. He also expressed his admiration for the dedication and sportsmanship displayed by the participating athletes, wishing them luck and success in their respective competitions.
The CARASUC meet is not just about sports; it also embraces the cultural and social aspects of the region. In addition to the athletic contests, the highlight of the event will be the much-anticipated Search for Mr. and Ms. CARASUC, set to take place at the BGVJr. Memorial Sports Center on the evening of May 1.
