With his goal of becoming a better fighter than his last bout, Carlo Bumina-ang will continue to work doubly hard after securing a six – figure contract with ONE Championship.
Bumina-ang will have no grace period however to savor his recent triumph, as he returned to the gym immediately after getting a call – up for ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Prime Video.
The unbeaten Team Lakay phenom is booked to face Team Lakay tormentor Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu in a bantamweight MMA clash on, August 2, live from Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
“With all the sacrifice and training, the five years is worth the wait,” said Bumina-ang.
More than being excited, Bumina-ang said he is elated with his upcoming bout vowing to showcase his skills and hopefully be a title contender soon.
“I have to be more explosive, I have to be a better in my next bout after my last fight,” quipped Bumina-ang.
Baatarkhuu will be a familiar foe to Bumina-ang, with the Mongolian having defeated two of his teammates.
Adonis Sevilleno was the first to fall against Baatarkhuu via unanimous decision on April 2023 while Jhanlo Sangiao followed suit after being submitted in the second round on August 2024.
Baatarkhuu became a force to be reckoned with in both the local and regional circuits, racking up victory after victory which caught ONE Championship’s attention and was invited for the inaugural season of Road to ONE: Mongolia, a 10-episode reality series where a US$100,000 contract and a roster spot with ONE were up for grabs.
He seized the opportunity, earning back-to-back victories during the show’s two-part finale. In the tournament final, he scored a walk-off, one-punch knockout of compatriot Bat-Ochir Batsaikhan to wrest the six-figure deal and chance to perform on the global stage.
Coach Mark Sangiao meanwhile said Bumina-ang’s entry into the main card of ONE is a testament to his fighter’s determination and work ethics.
“After ng kanyang mga laban, balik agad sa gym. Halos hindi siya nagpapahinga, balik training agad,” said Sangiao. NLMonitor
