Baguio City E-Lions dominates poomsae events in CARAA

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — The Baguio City E-Lions reasserted their supremacy on Tuesday, orchestrating a near gold medal sweep across multiple divisions of the Taekwondo Poomsae competition in the ongoing Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) 2026 Meet.

Joniya Yua Ysabelle Obiacoro emerged as the performer so far, capturing the gold in the Secondary Poomsae Individual Female event, tallying a formidable 8.384 score. Her routine comfortably distanced her from silver medalist Celine Grace Polis of the Abrenio Weavers (8.017) and Kalinga Bull’s Reuna May Tad-o, who took bronze with 7.850.

Obiacoro also anchored the Secondary Poomsae Female Team alongside Chezka Nicolette Luzadas and Arcie May Miranda as the trio delivered a unified performance that earned 8.250 points and another gold for coach Larry Dave Lizardo’s camp.

Abre Mighty Weavers and Benguet Stingers settled for silver and bronze, respectively.

On the boys’ side, Johann Gabriel Ventura kept the momentum swinging in Baguio’s favor.

Ventura outclassed the field in the Secondary Individual Boys event with a winning 7.967, edging out Tabuk City’s Jian Achilles Gunnawa (7.800) and Apayao’s Jande III Parañal (7.484).

The E-Lions’ younger athletes proved just as clinical.

Enrique Manuel Oglayon secured the gold in the Elementary Boys Individual event with a score of 8.134, showcasing balance that overwhelmed Apayao’s Jed Krasimir Madriaga (7.650) and Benguet’s John Cartney Domingo (7.334).

Frances Hollie Nabejet ignited the medal rush earlier in the day, clinching the Elementary Girls Individual title with an even 8.000.

Nabejet later joined forces with Winter Niamh Scarlet Abuan and Zion Ysabelle Buenviaje to capture the Elementary Team gold, once again posting an 8.000 mark.

The Baguio dominance extended to the Mixed Pair division, where Abuan and Zachary Mitchel Galang combined for a score of 7.867.

Their sharp execution pushed the Benguet Stingers (7.567) and the Tabuk City Coffee Roasters (7.550) to the lower steps of the podium. Roderick Osis
