There’s no denying Baguio City’s prowess in the ongoing Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association as it continues to run through the competition amassing 94 gold medals including 52 silvers and 28 bronze.
The Summer Capital bets is on course again for another over-all title in the largest sporting meet in the region hosted by Benguet province with bulk of the competition being played at the Benguet Sports Complex in La Trinidad.
Archery, despite losing three gold medals out of the 10 events already finished, still delivered for the city led by Chass Mhaiven Colas who took home three golds in the 30 – meters, 70 – meters, and the 1440 rounds while bagging the silver in the 50 – meters event.
William Bryan Layona of Ifugao sneaked two gold medals after topping the 50 and 60 – meters event.
“It was not the result we want but our archers where able to hit their targets,” coach John Hongitan said in jest during the archery event being held at the Melvin Jones football grounds in Baguio City
In the secondary girls category, Emy Angela Peredo was near perfect after hitting four gold medals in the 30, 50, 60 meters and the 1440 rounds while scoring a silver in the 70 – meters.
Benguet’s Misty Yem Gorospe sneaked a gold medal for Benguet after piping Peredo in the 70 – meters event.
As of 8:00 pm of February 26, Benguet is still in far second with 39 golds including 59 silvers and 27 bronze medals while Apayao trails at third after earning 23 – 16 – 36 in the event backed by the Department of Education.
Abra has already claimed 12 gold on top of their 16 silvers and 31 bronze medals as it hangs for the fourth spot with Ifugao currently sitting at fifth place with its 8-11-21 output.
Kalinga with its 7-14-19 medal production is at sixth while Tabuk City is in seventh with 5-7-18.
Mountain Province sits at the bottom with its lone gold including six silvers and 16 bronze medals. Roderick Osis
