Amid the continuing rains in Baguio, SM City Baguio extended assistance to 50 individuals affected by the recent landslide in Guisad Surong through its Operation Tulong Express initiative.
The landslide, which occurred following persistent rains, disrupted the daily lives of families in the area and left many residents dealing with the immediate effects of the incident.
To help with some of their immediate needs, SM City Baguio distributed essential goods to the affected residents. The simple gesture provided practical assistance to families as they cope with the situation and begin getting back to their daily routines. Among the evacuees affected by the landslide is Dan Cayabyab, who expressed his gratitude for the assistance extended to the affected families.
“Una sa lahat, malaking pasasalamat namin. Maliit o malaki man ang naitulong, on behalf sa lahat ng families na affected, tatanawin namin malaking utang na loob sa lahat ng tumulong,” Cayabyab shared.
The activity also reflects the importance of coming together during difficult times. In communities affected by incidents such as landslides, even small acts of kindness can provide a sense of comfort and remind families that they have people around them who care.
Operation Tulong Express is one of the ways SM responds to communities affected by unexpected situations, providing assistance where it can during times of need.
As rains continue in Baguio, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow advisories from local authorities, particularly those in areas vulnerable to landslides and other rain-related hazards.
