Lady Atoms, Cardinals stay on top as BBEAL hits final stretch

The University of Baguio Cardinals and Baguio College of Technology Lady Atoms continue to dominate their respective rivals as the 36th Season of the Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League volleyball tournament enters its final stretch.

Both schools are seeking to retain their crown as the league takes a breather with Philippine Military Academy unable to play due to other commitments.

The four – peat seeking Lady Atoms will try to close out the eliminations with a perfect record when they face the PMA Lady Cavaliers once games resumes.

BCT is riding high on their seven game winning streak this season after dispatching erstwhile rival Lady Cardinals with a three set 25-21, 25-11, 25-18, victory last week at the UP Gym.

Lady Atoms head coach Jun Nisperos said while the team remains unbeaten, they still need adjustments on both ends despite a complete line – up.

“So far okay naman yung team, ang importante lang maging ready yung mga rookie para anytime puwede silang ipasok sa laro,” said Nisperos.

The Lady Cardinals, currently at second with a 6-1 win slate, meanwhile bounced backed when they faced the University of the Cordilleras Lady Jaguars.

It was a tough test for UB, escaping a young but fighting UC squad in a thrilling 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 15-11 at the UC gym a week ago.

Saint Louis University and Benguet State University remain in the hunt, holding the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

With the elimination round nearly complete as of March 14, both institutions sit atop their respective divisions with nearly unblemished records.

In the men’s division, the University of Baguio (UB) remains the gold standard, currently holding a perfect 7-0 record with UC trailing having seven wins and a loss.

BCT remains in the hunt with five wins and two losses, while Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) and Saint Louis University (SLU) round out the top five. Roderick Osis
