P8-M illegal drugs seized in weeklong ops

More than P8 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated while three drug personalities were arrested during a weeklong operation of the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO – CAR).

According to a belated report, from June 30 to July 6, police in the Cordillera carried out 10 operations across the region, comprising seven marijuana eradication operations, two implementations of search warrants, and one buy-bust operation.

These efforts resulted in the confiscation of 40,330 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) and 6.6 grams of suspected shabu, with an overall standard drug price (SDP) of P8,110,880 and the arrest of three drug personalities, all listed as street level individuals (SLIs).

The most significant operations were launched in Kalinga, where the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) confiscated P7,827,200 worth of illegal drugs and arrested one SLI, and in Benguet, where the Benguet PPO seized P266,000 worth of marijuana plants.

Ifugao PPO meanwhile confiscated P14,280 worth of shabu and nabbed one SLI, while the Baguio City Police Office apprehended one SLI and confiscated P3,400 worth of shabu.

According to Police Brigadier General David Peredo Jr., PRO – CAR regional director, these accomplishments highlight PRO CAR’s unwavering commitment to a drug-free region.

Peredo added through intensified operations, inter-agency coordination, and community support, PRO –  CAR continues to strengthen its efforts in disrupting drug networks and safeguarding communities, working towards a safer and more resilient Cordillera. NLMonitor
