How are you? Like seriously?
2024 is just a memory of adventures, misadventures and mischiefs. Cheers to 2025 for another year opened for opportunities, adventures, and mischiefs. As I look at clear skies this New Year’s Day, I give myself a pat on the back for making it yet again – another year. It’s one thing I’m definitely grateful for.
2024 was a relapse for me yet it was a breakthrough for some. The mental health law was amended to include a higher pay for psychologists in government service. Meanwhile a city ordinance stressed the wide spread awareness of community based advocacies.
Friends from the PWD community are looking at improvements in the classification of disabilities which I think is a super power, generally. There are talks that the long-standing Magna Carta will pave the way for possible improvements in the country.
On the other hand, Philhealth long-standing issues are making people dread possible costs of medicines and probable health benefits in the future. Even the Universal Health Care Act is still a weary where-to fund source. The Malasakit centers for free meds or CSWDO funding approach is on hold considering lack of funding. Maybe? It might be the allegations regarding senatorsβ payola, pork barrel or POGO fund. All I can say is, βHaistβ.
Communities are talking about the issuance of fake PWD identification cards rolling its way to the people. I mean why would people want to be called disabled just for 20% discount or priority lane preference. What’s wrong with people?
Despite all things, I wish you to walk through with hope. Hope in your life and yourself. Hope that lights clear the way for you.
May you have a cup, pen, flashlight, chair and table full of hope. May you continue to share your story – the one that inspires and gives light. Why? It is because your story isn’t over yet. It is still waiting to be told.
So take it one day at a time. Thrive if you must. Undergo the process. Then like a cocoon to a butterfly, you will slowly flap your wings and fly. You’ll realize that the journey is all worth it! Butterfly hugs!
