Travel trio opens exhibit

A seven-day road trip led to an exhibition of the grandeur of the Cordillera.

Dubbed as, “Photographic Sojourn,” the work of David Leprozo Jr, Noli Gabilo and Joey De Castro highlights the beauty of the mountains through their expert lens as they traversed Baguio City, Benguet and the Mountain Province.

The seven-day sojourn of the seasoned photographers showcase images of the quiet elegance of the Cordillera landscapes, its warm and hospitable people and a glimpse of the grandiose celestial photography from northern mountaintops.

The exhibition opens, October 3, 2024 at the 2nd floor of Luisas Café, at Session Road, Baguio city.

Leprozo, Gabilo and De Castro share a passion for photography and have become advocates of adventure, travel and tourism over the years, the exhibition highlights their photographic journey which will show the immense beauty of farmlands, deep tunnels of Lepanto Mines and the poetically starry nights.

De Castro a multi-faceted artist and artisan who takes pride not only in his work in professional photography but also his expert hand in firing the kiln for his hand-crafted pots, both passions that have married into his career, making him one of the country’s leading pottery artists.

Gabilo, a fisherman from Batanes has become an icon for his celestial images as well as his eye for detailed travel photography, he is the recipient of the prestigious Gawad Mangpus for Ivatan Excellence in Photographic Arts and the Department of Tourism’s Kalakbay Award.

Leprozo, a journalist with a career spanning decade of travel, immersion in culture, creative arts as well as a passion for the preservation of the tangible and intangible heritage of the highlands, his exhibitions have travelled the world in his mission to continue his advocacy.

The photographic trio, from varied cultures, embarked on an unplanned road trip and for seven days and immortalized their surroundings making the collection of work, a convergence of talent and passion.
