The Baguio City Treasury Office (CTO) reported that the city has officially surpassed its mid-year revenue target, generating a total General Fund income of ₱1,799,052,206.76 as of May 31.
“It pays to uphold and vigorously pursue good governance, where everyone is assured that public resources are utilized efficiently, transparently, and free from corruption,” stated Local Treasury Operations Officer III for Campaign and Investigation, Kathlynn Louie Joy Domingo, in a report on June 22 at the Baguio City Hall Grounds.
The city’s revenue collection has seen a 12.03% increase compared to the same period in 2025—an uptick equivalent to ₱193.11 million. Leading the charge in meeting annual targets are the PEZA Share, which reached 72.59% of its goal (₱156.21 million), and the Real Property Tax (RPT), achieving 71.12% of its target (₱118.89 million).
The CTO report emphasizes the importance of reaching these revenue targets to enhance the city’s capacity to fund programs, projects, and services that directly benefit the community. Higher revenue translates to more resources for infrastructure, social welfare, and local development.
The CTO credited much of this success to intensified field operations and the “Tax Caravan” program, titled Buwis Mo, Bayad Mo Sa Barangay Mismo!, which brings collection services for RPT, business taxes, and community taxes directly to scheduled barangays.
Additionally, the CTO report showed a collection of ₱22,167,817 from business taxes and fees within the John Hay Special Economic Zone between January and May 2026.
Domingo noted that while the city celebrates its current achievements, officials are preparing for several upcoming milestones and potential policy changes. Among these are revenue adjustments, with the city eyeing an additional ₱300 million in projected income from proposed increases in garbage fee rates and business tax rates—both of which are currently pending approval by the City Council.
Notable upcoming deadlines include June 30, 2026, for the second-quarter Real Property Tax payment; July 5, 2026, for the Real Property Tax amnesty; and July 20, 2026, for the third-quarter business tax payment. By Sean Lardizabal, UC intern
