SM Supermalls bags top honor at 2026 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards

SM Supermalls was named Organization of the Year at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, marking the second time the mall developer has received this top honor.

The company earned 52 award points for 30 separate wins across Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories, recognizing innovation and excellence in the malling industry.

Joaquin San Agustin, SM Supermalls executive vice president, accepted the award and dedicated the achievement to the company’s employees, tenant partners, and millions of customers.

San Agustin noted that the recognition reflects the brand’s commitment to evolving and innovating to provide a “maxed-out” experience for mall-goers in both the Philippines and China.

“On behalf of SM Supermalls in the Philippines and China, we would like to thank the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards for this honor. This is a testament to how we continue to evolve and innovate to deliver a truly maxed-out experience for our customers,” added San Agustin.

The recognition highlighted the company’s recent growth in Northern Luzon, specifically citing the 2025 openings of SM City Laoag and SM City La Union.

“We dedicate this to the millions of our customers back home, as well as to our tenant partners and employees who make these experiences possible,” San Agustin said.

In La Union, the development was lauded for its Mallseum and its ability to translate local identity into a purpose-led brand experience.

These provincial expansions are part of a broader strategy to create community-driven spaces that reflect the unique heritage of their locales.

Environmental stewardship and social inclusion remained central to the company’s award-winning initiatives.

Sustainability programs such as the SM Green Movement, the 2025 International Coastal Cleanup, and “Powered by the Sun” solar projects were cited for building resilient communities.

Additionally, social programs like “Movies for the Blind” and “Mall for All” were recognized for ensuring that mall experiences remain accessible to all Filipinos.

SM Supermalls’ international portfolio also contributed to the win, with several China-based campaigns receiving accolades.

Initiatives including SM City Zibo’s “Let’s Wave” and SM City Yangzhou’s “Mango Vibes Only” demonstrated the brand’s ability to create lifestyle-driven experiences tailored to diverse regional markets.

The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards is considered one of the most prestigious programs in the region for recognizing business innovation. NLMonitor
