Baguio City โ€“ First time visitors from Davao and Negros Occidental have been chosen as this yearโ€™s Baguio-Benguet Lucky Summer Visitor (LSV).

The Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club Incorporated (BCBC) led by Thomas Picana, BCBC president, the seven lucky first timers were chosen at Pugo, La Union March 28, 2024 at Pugo La Union and will receive a 4day and 3night red carpet tour of Baguio and Benguet.

Jay Mea Bee Baling and Kareme B. Ugdaman both government employees from Davao City with the family of James S. Soriano, from Negros Occidental, a seaman and his children Ryza Jane, Sophia Marie and Rezia were chosen for this yearโ€™s Lucky Summer Visitor (LSV).

“I have long dreamed of going to Baguio and my children also dream of seeing Baguio, thank you very much for this blessing,” said Soriano.

The group of seven will be welcomed by chief executives of Baguio City, the Province of Benguet, municipalities of Pugo, La Union and towns of Tuba and Tublay as a sign of support to tourism as well as the BCBC program.

“We had planned for a long time to go sightseeing outside Davao and we saved the budget,” Ugdaman said.

The BCBC is the longest running media club in the North estimated to be founded in 1964, and has partnered with the City Government of Baguio, Province of Benguet and Municipality of Pugo and the Department of Tourism for the annual summer event which kicks off Monday, March 25 and culminates on March 31, Sunday, for a grand send off.

The LSV was crafted by media elders aimed to help promote Baguio City, the countryโ€™s undisputed Summer Capital, as a prime tourist destination especially during the summer season and gave birth to the media event which allow a lucky group to experience the city and the nearby Benguet towns.

The private sector also pitches in for the project and is led by Hotel Supreme, the official residence of the BCBC LSV with the Ng family upholding the tradition with the media club for decades.

During the week, the BCBC hosts the revered โ€œmedia campโ€ called Camp Peppot, named media mentor, Peppot Ilagan, for a week-long convergence of media, students and information officers in lectures, workshops and exchange.

Highlights of the LSV tour include a visit to the prime tourist destinations in Baguio and Benguet including courtesy calls with Baguio City, La Trinidad and Benguet officials with the iconic strawberry picking, and exclusive tours at Polig Farm, Stone Kingdom, Bencab Museum and Tam Awan Village with sketching session with artists.

The BCBC elected its new sets of officers on January 16, 2024 with the following officers serving their 2024 โ€“ 2025 term headed by Picana as President; Dexter See, Vice โ€“ President (VP) For Print; Dionisio Dennis, VP For Radio; Freddie Rulloda, VP For Television; Pigeon Lobien, Secretary, Ma. Elena Catajan, Treasurer, and Mauricio Victa, Auditor; with Board of Directors; Roderick Osis, Harley Palangchao, Frank Cimatu, Aldwin Joseph Quitasol and Joseph Cabanas as Ex-Officio Member.

The annual activity is made possible through efforts of government and non-government partners led by the City Government of Baguio, the Province of Benguet, the Municipalities of Tuba, Tublay and Pugo, La Union.
