UC Jaguars maul UP Maroons, but coaching staff far from satisfied

The University of the Cordilleras Jaguars scored its fourth win in six outings after stomping its class against the University of the Philippines – Baguio Maroons, 100 – 57, inching their way for a possible final four berth in the Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League.
Although it was a lopsided win, coach Joey Agacer said they are far more pleased from the Jaguars performance and may not be worthy of a semis berth in the men’s basketball of the 36 – year – old league.
“Over – all not satisfied. Siguro alam nila na kayang – kaya nila kaya ganyan ang naging attitude nila. They need to treat all games na dapat crucial, dapat ganun ang attitude nila. Defense wise, nag kulang kame. Nagkulang sa pressure,” said Agacer.
Veering away from their usual starting five, the Jaguars had their second unit start the ball game and take an early 9 – 6 advantage halfway in the first quarter.
The Jaguars were never threatened the rest of the ball game and cruised to another win as they brace for a tough showdown against the Saint Louis University Navigators at their home court.
“Against SLU, its a placement game. Hopefully they will strive and dapat mas mataas yung antas ng level of play nila,” added Agacer.
A win by UC against SLU would catapult them to third in the over – all standings but a loss will pull them down to fourth seed.
Jesus Dela Cuadra took charge for the Jaguars with a team high of 14 while Alexis Prado had 11 as Donni Cadiogan and Chester Nisperos adding 10 points each.
Andre Mollo had another double digit explosion with 18 while Sebastian Jocson added eight for UP – Baguio. Roderick Osis
