Today is Mental Health Awareness Week, not Mental Health Awareness Month. International Mental Health Awareness Month is in May and the regalia goes on. That is the irony of time, yesterday is different from today and from tomorrow. Today is October 9, 2025 specifically and exactly. There’s a clear difference from the now and the future.
Cebu has recently been plagued by an earthquake, Baguio has been a witness to various storms – literally and figuratively. But were the same storms or problems just recurring over and over? Say, for example – the not misnomer word of corruption.
Does history repeat itself or does people do things over and over again. Sometimes, it has become a culture or a becoming of coming and going. Things are so natural so much that we let them be.
To answer, history never repeats itself I think. It comes in another way, in another circumstance and in another time. But it may come with the same people, the same masterminds and the same no-known principles or values. Perhaps, that’s why crocodiles are so evident right now. It’s the fad! It’s the ugly truth.
Do you know that time and again, not only poverty is rooted in corruption? Even mental health is rooted in poverty and even corruption. When you don’t have food to eat or have a hungry stomach, you get tired, lack sleep and your mental health might be affected. Sleep deprivation is a no-no in the mental health thesaurus. Your body needs to sleep and your mind rests also even in deep sleep.
But then, you wake up and you chase time again. Sometimes you don’t get the same time or moment awake as your tired mind. For mental health warriors, too much thinking makes up for a heavy head. If time is never the same, why then do we choose to chase time? Maybe, time is an illusion.
Yet, with deep-seated hope only will we find the light despite the darkness. Is there hope? Is there a corruption of time? Is there a corruption of some sort of sub standardization? Resilience may be all that we are known for. Maybe, Filipinos ought to be resilient with time or as time passes by. Wisdom and age aligns.
I don’t know what to say. But an ounce of one moment may never be the same again. That one chance may be all lost. Yes, do not chase time but remember that time is a friend. Be mindful of the days, the dates and all for some things will never be the same again. For some times we chase time, other times we wait, other times we sleep. Why? It is because time is an element and the corruption of time and all is life lost.
