FOMO

How are you today?  I hope you took care of your mental health. Nothing is worth saving more than our health – especially our mental health.

The effects of social media are truly tremendous from everyday life to our socially acceptable norms and even, as I’ve said, our mental health. Have you seen all that traumatic bashing online – politicians and their supporters taking one against the other? It’s the election craze and a bullying experience. From dynamic dynasties, to those who believe in hand-me-down politics and the passages on Samson and Goliath, harm has been said and done.

I saw a post by the National Commission on Mental Health (NCMH) suggesting us to detox from the news and social media. It says that in case it affects our mental health, just put off the television or don’t scroll your Facebook or news sources. Also, considering that some social media posts are just click baits, better let go.

We as people are usually situated in circumstances called as FOMO’s (fear of missing out) that’s why we want to be updated online every now and then. It’s a typical thought that may or may not lead to mental health issues or concerns especially when it becomes too much so that it affects our daily activities. Lesson is, just shut the smart television or the smartphone. I wonder why it’s even called smart after all when it doesn’t think on its own like humans!

Anyway, I hope you find peace in your own nook or in a safe space with the closest people to your heart – to be able to move away from the toxicity and the what-not’s that are not so good for your mental health. Why? It is because the chaos around us creates chaos in our minds. So take steps to fix our surroundings and situations as far as we can. Try, if we must, but never give up.

Butterfly hugs everyone and may the force be with you! May we find peace and joy despite the chaos that calls and redefines our mental health. Why? It is because sometimes, we need to let go and carry on. I wish you faith, luck or whatever you may call it. Namaste!
