“Anino’t Sinag” celebrates Baguio street photography

An exhibition championing street photography is now on display at 1900 Work.space on Session Road, inviting visitors to see Baguio through the eyes of those who walk its alleys.

“Anino’t Sinag” showcases black-and-white photographs by Baguio Street Photographers, a hobbyist club founded in 2023 by Jayson Jaylo and the late Niel Ongchangco.

The exhibition is the third major show for the group, which previously staged “80 and Still Free” and “Save the Baguio Market.” This iteration features 26 Baguio-based street photographers: lawyer Joel Dizon, Ceejay Duque, Chanice Guitang, Charlie Casia, Christine Constantino, Conrad Rotor, Jaeda Bugayong, Jayson Jaylo, JC Presco, Jefferson Salazar, JM Rosario, Julian Okubo, Kenneth Cera, Lemon Madrid, Christopher Panapan, Liza Oktubre, Manuel Claro Afable, Mika Salazar, Migz On-onod, Mond Baldonadi, Myleene Astudillo, Randy Benigno, Rafael De Guzman, She Escobar, Tasha Ramos, and Tito Jr. Sanqui.

Jaylo said the exhibit aims to bridge the gap between the genre and the general public.

“Madaming hindi nakakaalam sa genre namin na street photography,” Jaylo said, explaining that many people remain unfamiliar with the craft. He described street photography as a vital form of documentary work—capturing people, places, and fleeting moments to preserve what Baguio looks like before time and changing generations alter it beyond recognition.

The exhibition opened on June 27, with Baguio Councilor Jose Molintas and former Mayor Peter Rey Bautista Jr. joining the group to celebrate the artistry and stories behind each image.

“Anino’t Sinag” runs until July 28, 2026. By Rommel G. Fangot Jr., UC Intern
