6 Cordillera schools on top 150 innovative schools globally

Six Cordillera institutions entered the top 150 innovative schools globally under the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). 

The Cordillera Career Development College led the Cordillera schools, with a rank of 124, followed by University of Baguio on 134th, Kalinga State University on 135th, Saint Louis University on 137th, University of the Cordilleras on 140th, and Ifugao State University on 148th. 

For the third consecutive year, CCDC led the ranking among Cordillera schools that were part of the shortlisted 400 universities worldwide as announced by WURI on July 10.  

“This is a rare and outstanding achievement that reflects our unwavering dedication to innovation and excellence,” CCDC President Sherry Junette Tagle said.  

CCDC has also earned the distinction in the three focus areas: 9th place in the Industrial application, 12th in culture and values, and 20th in ethics and integrity. 

Meanwhile, other Cordilleran schools that also placed in the global ranking were Benguet State University at rank 172, Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology on 179, Apayao State College at 221, Mountain Province State University at 241, King’s College of the Philippines at 273,  Baguio Central University at 302, and the STAR Colleges, Inc. at 361 rank. 

The World University Rankings for Innovation is a global ranking system that evaluates universities based on innovativeness, rather than traditional academic metrics. 

Using 16 categories, it encompasses innovation targets and methods, offering a comprehensive measure of institutions’ creative contributions to societal advancement.
