DILG, DICT champion e-governance in web management training

In an effort to promote improved e-governance initiatives in local government units (LGUs) in the region, the Department of the Interior and Local Government–Cordillera (DILG-CAR) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology–CAR (DICT-CAR), conducted a training on Web Content Management on July 7-11, 2025 in this city.

Funded by the DICT-CAR and implemented through the DILG-CAR’s Ipeyas Knowledge Sharing Session, eleven (11) LGUs from the six provinces in the region participated in the five-day training that sought to retool Information Technology Officers and other functionaries with the fundamental competencies for effective web content management using WordPress.

Dun Vincent Bueno, Chief of DICT-CAR’s ICT Literacy and Competency Development Section, led the discussions on content publishing and management, search engine optimization, domain and sub-domain configuration, and deployment of websites to government web hosting services, among others.

This training comes after a recent survey conducted by the two government agencies that revealed that LGUs remain challenged in maintaining and managing their respective websites due to limited technical skills and capacity-building opportunities.

DILG-CAR Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda explained that it is imperative for LGUs to establish a stronger online presence as it presents opportunities to promote transparency and accountability, particularly in making information about their operations available to the public.

“Our LGUs must aggressively adopt effective e-governance practices. They must be able to adapt to the ever-changing trends on how their constituents interact with and avail of the services of our local governments,” RD Nuyda said.

Director Nuyda added that e-governance supports the administration’s campaign for Ease of Doing Business (EODB) stating that more LGUs have begun digitalizing some of their services to make it more accessible to the general public.

The DILG Cordillera chief also thanked the DICT-CAR, under the leadership of Regional Director Engr. Reynaldo T. Sy, for co-hosting this activity citing the significance of inter-agency collaboration in pursuing good local governance.

In their push for fortified e-governance practices, DILG-CAR and the DICT-CAR jointly reminded LGUs to ensure that they implement stronger cybersecurity measures to prevent any form of breach in their ICT ecosystem.
